Worship Committee

The Ripon and Leeds Diocesan Worship Committee is a task group of the Diocesan Council for Mission.

It aims:

• To resource and enrich the offering of liturgy within the diocese
• To support the bishops, who have overall responsibility for worship within the diocese

Our objectives are:

• To create and explore new liturgical resources
• To foster and encourage opportunities for a creative encounter with God through a variety of media
• To be a resource for consultation, advice and training on liturgical best practice within the diocese
• To be a resource for diocesan acts of worship
• To collate and communicate liturgical resources within the diocese, and in particular, to meet with the Diocesan Bishop at least once per year
  
• To communicate to parishes such liturgical developments and changes occurring in the Church of England through the work of the Liturgical Commission and others
  
• To explore ways in which the liturgies of our partner churches in Sri Lanka could be made known.
  

Membership

Membership shall consist of people with an interest in forwarding the committee’s aims and objectives, and represent the various gifts, traditions and geographical diversity of the diocese. The Chairperson will be appointed by the bishop, following a request by the DCM.

Collaborative working

The Diocesan Worship Committee encourages a partnership approach with other organisations involved in liturgical formation, including the local committees of Praxis and The Royal School of Church Music. We aim to work closely with the Methodist church with whom we have a covenantal agreement
