Young
people from across Yorkshire will be spending a night in Ripon
Cathedral later this month for a unique event featuring contemporary
music and an all night vigil. 3135 – The Journey is an innovative youth event on Friday July 18th, which starts at 7.30pm
with an evening of live music and then, for those who choose to stay, becomes an overnight prayer vigil.
In the evening the Acoustic Café in the grounds of the Cathedral will have a BBQ to fortify those taking part for the night ahead. Musicians include Light ends darkness (pictured), Gleam of Dawn and solo artist Jane Kitson.
Inside the Cathedral throughout the night there will be interactive and multimedia prayer stations. Following the evening concert, the Dean of Ripon the Very Revd Keith Jukes will be leading a creative act of worship which will lead into the prayer vigil. Prayer will continue through the night, on the hour, led by different youth groups in a variety of ways and finishing with breakfast at 6.00am.
The evening event starts at 7.30 and finishes at 10.30, and the cost is £3.00. There is no cost for this part of the event but you do have to register as part of a youth group or cell and bring an adult leader with you.
