Contemporary dance, art and workshops as Leeds church opens its doors

Arch dance

Performers from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance have been creating ‘movement installations’ at a Leeds Church as part of an imaginative six month collaboration between the church members and artists.

Movement Installation

ARCH is the title of a  week long programme of events taking place at All Hallows Church on Regent Terrace, Leeds 6,  with performances , exhibitions,  contemplative services and workshops.

The   series of events are the culmination of a six month residency at All Hallows by artists Simon Birch and Trish O'Shea. Their goal has been to “respond to the people and places linked to the church and Hyde Park area.”

On Friday and Saturday November 12th and 13th performances and exhibitions took place, “redefining  the interior spaces of the building through the use of visual imagery, objects, film, text and live performance.”

Art installation

The movement installations were created by Birch and O’Shea  based on the building , and the memories, stories, and comments from the local community. Live music was performed by Catherine Hicks, a member of the Leeds Symphony Orchestra and All Hallows church.

ARCH project

The Arch programme continues until Thursday November 18th with  a series of activities and workshops.
