Crypt appeals for urgent food supplies

St George’s Crypt in Leeds has appealed for help to replenish its stocks

St George’s Crypt, the nationally famous centre for homeless and disadvantaged people in Leeds, is today appealing to businesses, schools, churches and the public to help them restock their freezers and larders.

Crypt Life

Every day, the Crypt cooks 100 meals for clients who visit its facilities in the heart of Leeds.

It has been grateful over many years for the tremendous range of donations of both fresh and non-perishable food items from an ever-widening number of generous supporters.

Crypt Fund Raising and PR Director Martin Patterson said: “We are facing some challenging times both in relation to the increasing complexity of needs being presented by our service users, and also the developing picture of a much tougher environment for fund raising."

Crypt Chief Executive, Chris Fields, himself a former chef, said today: “We very much hope that this appeal will be successful. We have in recent years been able to reduce our food budget drastically through food donations and also this has been of huge benefit on a wider basis as it can mean that food which are surplus to requirements in one area is used to produce a very broad benefit to some of the most needy people in our city today."

To support this appeal, please contact the Crypt at its centre in Great George Street, either by visiting the Crypt personally, or contacting the charity at 0113 245 9061, 07825 150586  or by emailing Crypt Centre Manager Chris Wilson at chris.wilson@stgeorgescrypt.org.uk  or martin.patterson@stgeorgescrypt.org.uk
