Taking Responsibility
'Taking Responsibility' is a two year programme, running from January to December each year.  The aims are to equip clergy for a change of role at the end of curacy; a first post beyond curacy; or a first post in the diocese.  Further details, including booking arrangements can be found in the 2012 course programme.
 

 

Mission and Ministry in Leeds: Multi-Faith Contexts

An opportunity to look in depth at the issues affecting our mission and ministry in a Christian Muslim context. During the day, there is a specific focus on children and young people, which is helpful in a parish context as well as schools and youth work. Religion and Society Resarch Day

Robin Le Poidevin, Professor of Metaphysics at the University of Leeds, will present his paper: ‘Honest to God (almost) fifty years on’

Bron Taylor, Professor of Religion and Environmental Ethics, University of Florida and a Carson Fellow of the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society in Munich Germany will present: 'Spirituality After Darwin: ‘Dark Green’ Nature Religion as a New, Global Religious Movement':

Understanding Islam

This is a course for those who want to learn more about Islam and reflect on Islam as Christians.  It aims to provide an understanding of Islam as Muslims understand it, and to address questions of Christian response to Islam and Christian co-existence with Muslims. No prior knowledge of Islam will be assumed. Sing the Lord's Song in a Strange Land
Monday 18th  to Wednesday 20th June 2012
The Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, Derbyshire

Bishop Stephen Cottrell will open with a call to affirm our preaching ministry; Stephen Wright will remind us that the Bible is our story and our song, John Rogerson will talk about interpreting the Bible, Katie Edwards about interpreting the strange land. Rosalind Brown will take us behind the conference title and into the into the world of Ps. 137, from which the title comes.Neil Richardson's theme will be one gospel, one church, one preaching ministry. If we all share one ministry, we need to help and encourage each other. And that's what the conference - and the College - are all about.
 
In addition to all that there'll be a choice of workshops, worship with sermons to listen to and discuss, and some 'participative musical entertainment' (!) on the Tuesday evening.

A part time programme leading to a Postgraduate Diploma or MA in Rural Mission & Ministry is being offered by the York Institute for Community Theology and York St John University, supported by the Arthur Rank Centre. 

 

Aimed at lay and ordained rural practitioners, modules include:  The rural context in contemporary Britain; Developing and Evaluating models of rural ministry; rural mission theology and practice; and critical reflective practice in rural contexts.
